A highly anticipated blockbuster film in a series of classic American epics, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” released on Dec. 18, fuels the fire within moviegoers to relive old stories and embark on a fresh journey with new characters.

The film opens in battle fashion and audiences immediately meet an imperial Stormtrooper whose helmet is streaked with that appears to be blood. The Stormtrooper, who refers to himself as Finn (John Boyega), fights for the First Order which arose from the ashes of the evil Empire. Fighting back, a rebel movement known as the Resistance clashes with the First Order.

This “Star Wars” introduces three other new characters: Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Rey’s character lives on the desert planet of Jakku, and she first appears after meeting BB-8, an orange droid containing the map that holds the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, who has gone missing.

Poe Cameron (Isaac), “General Organa’s most daring pilot,” appears at the onset of the film as he battles the First Order. In an attempt to hide Luke Skywalker’s location, he provides BB-8 with the aforementioned map and the droid escapes into the desert.

Kylo Ren, brought to life by Driver, plays the evil grandson of Anakin Skywalker, otherwise known to diehards as Darth Vader. Throughout the movie, the audience catches Ren wrestling with his identity as the leader of the First Order. A long-time pupil of Like Skywalker and the son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Ren has abandoned his roots, seeking to destroy his uncle Luke Skywalker who is the last remaining Jedi.

Overall, the movie depicts a plot building upon the original space opera trilogy, bringing back Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia (Carrie Fisher), and the rest of the gang for an adventure that is sure to excite.
