University reaches near-record enrollment numbers

Special to The Periscope

Shorter has recorded a fall semester enrollment of 1,628, marking only the second time in the university’s history that traditional student enrollment has topped 1,600. This year’s total represents an increase of 100 students over last fall’s enrollment of 1,528 and is only 15 students less than the institution’s all-time highest enrollment of 1,643, which was recorded in the fall of 2011.

University President Dr. Don Dowless is pleased with enrollment.

“Most importantly to us, those numbers represent individual students who have chosen to make Shorter University their home, and we are honored to have them as part of the Shorter family. We are committed to being student-focused and to providing our students with an exceptional educational experience within our Christ-centered environment.”

In addition, Shorter has again been ranked as one of the best colleges in the Southeast, according to nationally known education services company, The Princeton Review.  Shorter is one of 138 institutions The Princeton Review included in its recently released “Best in the Southeast.”
