The social sciences department hosted a reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution in the front circle Sept. 16 to celebrate Constitution Day.

“No one celebrates our constitution. The rights, liberties, and protections that govern our daily lives deserve celebration. Here, we are giving our founding document its deserved respect,” senior political science major Anthony Norman said.

Students and faculty members gathered in the front circle as free, red, white and blue cupcakes were handed out and history major Jordan Heath read the founding documents.

“We wanted to reread the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution in a public forum as our forefathers would have done. We wanted it to serve as a reminder of the principles upon which we were founded,” Dr. Pickell said.
