Leaving Shorter in 1965 to start a family, Sally Peek thought finishing her college education would never happen. Her hopes changed after hearing on the radio that tuition at Shorter is free for those 70 years and older. Peek reenrolled in 2011 to finish the degree she started 46 years ago. According to Kelly Mills, arts assistant professor, “She (Sally) has been an integral member of the art department.” Mills noted that Peek has done much more than just participate in class and department activities. While at Shorter, Peek purchased photography equipment for the department and paid for a student’s extensive orthodontic work. Sally hosted her senior showcase in late March where she displayed over 70 works of art. Peek will graduate in May.
