In less than a year, Americans will take part in history in selecting a new president of the United States of America.
This year’s voting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 6. As college students, we play an important part in electing the new president.
According to civicyouth.org, statistics show that during the 2008 “Obama” election, over 52 percent of college students came out to vote. This was, in fact, the majority of votes that were the source of President Obama’s win, which shows that college students’ votes do make a huge impact on who is elected as president.
Junior French major Brenna Moore believes change starts within us.
“If we want change, we should do something about it,” said Moore.
Your vote sends a message and can make a difference in our country.
Freshman sociology major Alex Hunter said, “Your vote makes a huge difference. If you do not vote, then you don’t have a say in who gets elected into office.”
Vote to make a difference and change in your community, state and country. Encourage your family and friends to get out and cast their vote as well.
“Voting makes a huge difference. If you don’t vote, you don’t have a right to complain,” said Hix.
Even if it’s your first time voting, it’s never too late to make an impact.
