The women’s basketball team has enjoyed having Adams back on the court after injuring her wrist last season. Adams has received two GSC Player of the Week awards through the course of this season.

Shorter University sport management major Taylor Adams is putting up outstanding numbers on the court this season. Adams averages a double-double on the season and leads the GSC in rebounds per game with 3.4. She has been recognized for her play as a two-time GSC Player of the Week.

“I am blessed to be back on the court, it was hard watching from the sidelines last year.” Adams said in regard to her injury last season that forced her off of the court.

She attributes all her success on the court to her teammates.

“My teammates have been finding me in the right places at the right time and we have just been clicking,” Adams said. She is fourth in the GSC in scoring with 15.4 points per game.

The Lady Hawks recently upset Delta State, who were ranked No. 22 in the nation at the time.

“We will have a great first half and then let teams come back in the third quarter, we need to finish games early,” stated Adams.  During the first half of this game, the Lady Hawks were up by 29 points, but finished the game leading by only three points.

Adams is the first ever women’s basketball player in SU’s history to receive the GSC Player of the Week award in back-to-back weeks.

Adams said, “It is a great award and I was excited to receive it the first time and when I won it the second time it was even crazier.”

The Lady Hawks are ranked third in the GSC for points allowed per game with 57.9. Adams attributed the team’s success to the great defense that they have been playing. “Our defense has been tremendous,” stated Adams.

Adams and the Lady Hawks look to continue their success through conference play and into the postseason.
